Xybots, an arcade game released by Atari Games in 1987, is a third-person shooter. Players control "Major Rock Hardy" and "Captain Ace Gunn" as they navigate a 3D maze, battling robots known as the Xybots. The robots' mission is to destroy humanity. The game features a split-screen display showing gameplay on the bottom half and player status and level information on the top half. Designed by Ed Logg, it was originally conceived as a sequel to Gauntlet. Despite its unique control scheme involving rotating the joystick to turn the player character, Xybots received praise for its cooperative multiplayer aspect.
